Kim and Rob, 2.10.07

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to assist Jennifer Davis on a wedding at the Glenn Foerd Mansion in Pennsylvania. The location was beautiful. The interior is furnished with antiques and is full of detail. A great backdrop for a beautiful wedding.

When we arrived, we quickly got our equipment into the room that we shared with the coats and the nice coat check lady. After doing a quick walk through of the grounds, the bride, Kim, arrived. The next thing I knew, Jennifer and I were taking photos of the girls getting ready and Jennifer's second shooter, Jordan Van Aken, was downstairs snapping shots of the groom, Rob, and the rest of the guys.

I
'm excited to learn from Jennifer -- she knows exactly what she's doing and she gets amazing results! The best thing about having her as a mentor is that she's completely willing to answer any question I have. She's a great teacher and even offered to go through some of the shots she took and talk about what she did with each shot.

The whole ti
me I was using Jennifer's Canon 20D with my 50mm 1.4 lens. For the most part, I got to shoot throughout the entire wedding. Here's a shot of the bride and groom right after they were married:

And some guests during the cocktail hour:

Here are a few of the wedding cake:

While everyone was out on the dance floor, I was color correcting some selected images and putting them together in a slide show on Jen's laptop. The guests loved being able to see some of the shots before they left the party.

The bride and groom left the wedding in a sea of sparklers. One nice guest helped me up onto the railing so I could get some shots above the crowd...

The day was very successful. I learned that I need a wide angle lens. Well, I probably don't need it, but I found myself wanting to get that angle in a few instances.

I'm assisting Jennifer again on the 24th and 31st of March, so check back to see what I've been up to!
