Gina & Ed took the leap!

I met Gina for the first time over the summer. She was reluctant to hire a photographer, but luckily her friends told her how she might regret that decision later. We met up a couple of months later to do their engagement shoot. I had so much fun with the two of them, I couldn't wait for the wedding. Gina and Ed had their intimate ceremony in the garden's at their apartment in Washington Heights, New York. What I didn't realize until I got there, was that they have an amazing view of the George Washington Bridge, the fall foliage just beyond the bridge and the water it crosses. Absolutely beautiful! After the ceremony, we headed down to the meatpacking district in Manhattan for some fun bride and groom portraits. The reception, which was an intimate dinner with close family and friends, was held at Gradisca Restaurant in New York City. Thanks so much to Shannon Cunningham for shooting with me! Shannon, you rock!

Eileen & Brendan

A few weeks ago, I shot Eileen and Brendan's wedding with Jennifer Davis. They were married at the beautiful Tarrytown House Estate in Westchester, NY.

Here are some details from their amazing, Irish themed day:



The funny thing about this day is that one of my good friends from college, Siobhan, was a guest. I hadn't seen her in years, and during group portraits, I noticed her hanging out on the side lines. I had a feeling I would run into someone I knew at some point while shooting - and I'm so excited that Siobhan and I are back in touch now.

Jessica & Steve

Jessica and Steve were married at the Prospect Park Picnic House in Brooklyn. Their ceremony, performed by Reverend Mary Jane Weiss, was held just outside the Picnic House on the South Lawn of the park. The morning brought heavy rain and thunder, so we weren't sure if the ceremony was going to be outside. But by the afternoon, the sun peaked out and stayed out. All the finger crossing actually worked! One of the coolest details of their day was the bluegrass band, who played the music for both the ceremony and reception. There was spoon, washboard and even saw playing involved. The band was amazing!

Alexx & Julio - The Party

As promised, here is part 2 of Alexx & Julio's wedding celebration. They had their reception at a place I doubt I'll ever have the pleasure of shooting at again, Queens Theatre in the Park, which is located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. It's surrounded by the amazing architecture of the 1964 World's Fair - you can see a video from the Fair here. I'd never been over to the park, only to the stadium for a baseball game or two. I highly recommend a visit if you're ever in the area.

Alexx & Julio started the party off with a parade. The two of them, along with friends and family members, marched into the theatre, singing and dancing. That followed by a special dance performance for Julio by Alexx. Later, Julio and his band performed Chan Chan by The Buena Vista Social Club -- which is the song you'll hear in the slideshow. Some of their friends danced for them, one you'll see is a Mime, who's performance incorporated some great images of Alexx & Julio. Alexx's Dad even brought tears to his own eyes by showing images of Alexx growing up. And later, an impromtu performance of Thriller broke out when the song came on.

This party was so much fun. I loved being able to be a part of it and watch all of these amazingly talented people come together to show Alexx & Julio how much they are truly loved.

Alexx & Julio - The Ceremony

Alexx and Julio are a beautiful, creative couple who split their wedding festivities into two days. This is part one - the ceremony. It took place on the rooftop of their amazing Long Island City apartment. Alexx and Julio had only their closest friends and family surrounding them in a circle creating an even more intimate setting. It was such a moving ceremony and so unique to them. I had an amazing time shooting it. Thanks to Shannon Cunningham for helping me out!

Jered & Wendy

Two weekends ago, Jordan Van Aken brought me along to help shoot on Wendy & Jered's wedding. The ceremony was held at the Irvington Presbyterian Church in the beautiful town of Irvington, NY. The reception followed at Tappan Hill Mansion.

Check out the details from the day:



The groom, his father, his brothers and the rest of the groomsmen, about 7 of them total, finished off this bottle of Macallan Whisky before the ceremony. Pretty impressive.

Linda & John

A few weeks back I shot the wedding of Linda & John with Jen Davis. Their ceremony was at St. Paul's church on the Columbia University Campus. It's a beautiful, old church. The reception followed at Studio 450, which is a big empty white loft space that you can do anything with. Linda & John's details look like they came right out of a magazine. The Bride's Cafe featured Jen and this event on their blog in a three part post. Check it out HERE to get more details on the day.

Dorothy & Tom, 5.3.08

I had so much fun photographing Dorothy & Tom's wedding! After meeting up with them while they were getting ready, my talented and lovely second shooter, Jordan Van Aken, and I were off to the Church of the Transfiguration in the heart of Chinatown, NYC. Afterwards, Dorothy & Tom let me drag them out into the crowded streets of Chinatown to grab a few portraits. I couldn't pass up such a great backdrop! And luckily Tom kept Dorothy laughing the entire time. Their reception was in Rye, NY at The Wainwright House, which is a beautiful mansion on the water.

Vicki & Michael, 4.21.08

Saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day for Vicki & Michael's wedding. I met up with Michael & his best man, Bobby, who also happens to be his brother, at The Ravel Hotel in Long Island City. After hanging with them for an hour, we were on our way to St. Cecilia's Church in Brooklyn. The church & ceremony were both beautiful. Then we were off to The Foundry in Long Island City to party! It was such a fun day! Congratulations Vicki & Michael! And thanks to the talented Jennifer Davis for having me along.
